The state government of Gujarat has come up with a scheme called Shramik Manpasand Pass Scheme. As the name suggests, the scheme is for the workers of the state, and the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board is the one that has taken the initiative to create such scheme for the people of the state. It is a transport pass for the labour of the state that will help them to commute in lesser cost. It is clear that the scheme will beneficial for the people who live on daily wage. Key features of the Shramik Manpasand Pass Scheme

• Objective of the scheme– The scheme will provide concession to the workers so that they can save money from the regular bus fare. It will help them to improve their financial condition a little bit.
• Concession amount– As per the policy of the scheme, every labor has to pay 20% of the bus fare and rest 80% will be borne by the state government of Gujarat.
• Coverage area – The scheme will cover cities like Sarangpur, Maninagar, Wadaj, Naroda and Vasna terminuses.
• Monitored by– The scheme will be monitored by the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Shramik Manpasand Pass Scheme Eligibility criteria

• Construction workers- The scheme is for the construction workers of the state, so the applicant has to be the laborer of a construction site.

• Resident of Gujarat– The candidates have to be the resident of Gujarat to be eligible to apply for the scheme.
• Bank account- To apply for the scheme the applicant has to have bank account.
• Age limit- The candidate’s age has to be minimum of 16 years old to apply for the scheme.

• Voter card and Aadhaar card for proof of age – To apply for the scheme the applicant must have voter ID card and Aadhar card for age proof and other identification.
• Ration card – To let the authority know about your family and address you need to have ration card.
• Self-attested certificate – The applicant needs to submit self-attested certificate to prove that he/she has been in this profession for at least 30 days.
• Bank account details– As the subsidy will be credited to the beneficiary’s bank account directly, so the applicant needs to provide bank pass book to provide the account details.
• Income certificate– The candidate needs to submit self-attested income certificate to the authority.
• Passport photo– The candidate needs to bring three recent passport photographs for registration.

To apply for the scheme you need to visit this link. As it is a newly launched scheme the portal is not fully prepared. It will be prepared soon so you need to keep eye on the portal to stay updated. However, you can apply for the scheme offline as well. And for that you need to visit ‘Shree Bhavan’, 1st Floor, Rustom Kam Marg, Next to Gun House, Khanpur, Ahmedabad-30 001 which is the office of Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

During the launch of the scheme which is primarily launched in Surat, the Chief Minister of the state Minister Vijay Rupani said that the government is working for the construction workers so that they get a healthy living condition. For their welfare the government has increased the fund for several schemes and the authority will also impart education related to the scheme. The scheme will help the construction workers to save significant amount of travel cost inside the city that will help them to improve their daily life. So, they can now travel from their accommodation to workplace at a negligible cost.
