The previous and present central governments implemented several schemes, which are targeted towards the development of the overall educational framework. Changing few aspects in some schools, and offering financial assistance to some institutes and candidates will not improve the situation. Thus, this time, Modi government has decided to bring some popular education programs under one umbrella. The name of this new scheme is Samagra Shiksha Yojana Program. It will target schools, the entire education system, and training of teachers and use of technology.

Main benefits of the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme

The implementation of this unique scheme will prove to be beneficial for teachers as well as the students. Students in the government schools will be exposed to technology that will enable them to learn better. As for the teachers, they will receive better training that will allow them to instruct the students better. Development of Teachers’ Training is a prime focus of the scheme.

Objectives of the scheme

Maintaining educational value

Understanding the value of the education system is a must. If children do not get to utilize the education they receive, then it will go in vain. The scheme will ensure that educational value is properly maintained. Along with academic training, talks about vocational training in schools, are also in the pipeline.

Equity and equality

Gender inequality is another issue in the nation. Implementation of the new project will help central government to bring educational equity. With this, both girls and boys will receive equal opportunities to go to schools.

Right to Education & Right to Children

Each child can demand to attain proper education. But lots of hindrances come in the way. With the implementation this new scheme, every child will be able to get education. Thus, RTE and RTC will be exercised accordingly.

Treating primary, secondary and higher-secondary as one unit

Earlier, schools were said to consist of three sections – primary, secondary and higher-secondary. With the implementation of this scheme, all these sections will come under one system. These sections will be treated as a part of a holistic framework.

Making transition smoother

It will become easy for the students to transition from one academic level to another, within the school structure.

Development of two Ts

Training of teachers and use of Technology are imperative for the development of the entire education system. Under Samagra Shiksha scheme, steps will be taken to develop both these aspects.

Development of school libraries

Students will not be able to increase their knowledge horizon if they do not have access to books. Most government school libraries are in a sorry state. Under the new scheme, financial assistance of Rs. 5000 to Rs 20,000 will be offered for betterment of these libraries.

Development of sports environment

This scheme will also assist in the better implementation of Khelo India mission. Central government will offer financial assistance at primary, secondary and higher-secondary levels respectively. Financial aid of Rs. 5000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 25,000 will be given at these levels respectively. Government will provide sports equipments in each school under this scheme.

Financial assistance for female education

Special attention will be given towards the development and expansion of female education. Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya currently holds classes till standard 6th. But more classes will be constructed to make it till higher-secondary. Rs. 4385.60 will be spent on developing female education systems during 2018 – 2019. It will be increased to Rs. 4553.10 in 2019 – 2020.

Increasing competence of students

Proper attention will be paid on implementation of steps, which not only offer good education to the students, but also play a positive role in increasing the competence of these pupils.

Participation of all parties

Central government has urged guardians, teachers and the management committee of the school to ensure that education level is kept high.

Modernization of teacher training

Students will get proper training only if the teachers are competent. TO increase the competence of the teachers, government will make use of technology.

Portal for teachers

Teachers will attain training related assistance and study materials from an online site that has been launched for this purpose. The name of this site is DIKSHA.

Operation Digital Board in schools

It will also include the implementation of Operation Digital Board. It included installation of digital boards, smart classrooms, teaching with DTC connections. This operation will continue for 5 years.

Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan

Another component of this scheme is to pay attention to the cleanliness in all government schools. Steps will be taken to ensure that all schools are kept clean for better sanitation and hygiene. It will be done under the Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan.

Streaming the education structure

With the success of this project, central government will be able to streamline the education system. The inclusion of other schemes will speed up the entire process.

Budget for the scheme implementation

During the financial year 2017 – 2018, the central government has allocated a total of Rs. 28,000 crore for the successful implementation of three older education projects. But with the declaration of Samagra Shiksha scheme, it has hiked the overall budget by a whopping 20%. Now, the monetary allocations stand at Rs. 34,000 crore. This amount will be used during 2018 – 2019, whereas, Rs 41,000 crore has been announced for 2019 – 2020. Overall, it has a budget of Rs. 75,000 Crore.

  2. One must type in the login ID, Password and the captcha code to get access in the portal.
  3. In case, a person desires to take a look at the instructions, he/she needs to click on Login Instructions, located at the foot of the captcha code box.

A lot has been done by the central government to develop the foundation of school education. Primary training in school is the first step that students take to fulfill their dreams of attaining higher education.  With the help of this scheme, the central government will make sure that both teachers as well as students get all the help they need to get better education. With a generous increase in the overall budget of this scheme, it is expected to make some positive changes in the education system and framework.
