 To encourage the girls of the state, Assam government has launched a scooty scheme. The scheme was launched under Pragyan Bharati Scheme. The scheme will provide a two-wheeler vehicle to the meritorious girls of 12^th grade. The distribution of the scheme will be done under the higher education department of the state. The scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal. Here in this article you are going to get an idea about the scheme in detail.

Assam Free Scooty Scheme Key Features

• Objective of the scheme– The scheme was launched to encourage the girls to pursue higher education after completing school. The scheme is value their ability and personality.
• Choice in scooter– Under the scheme the girls will be given with a choice of choosing between Petrol and Electrical scooty.
• Monitoring the scheme– The scheme will work under Pragyan Bharati Scheme and it will be monitored by higher education department of Assam.
• Cost of the vehicle– Government has allotted 50000-55000 rupees for per scooty that will distributed to the girls.
• Total budget for the scheme– Government has earmarked a provision of 144.30 crores rupees for carrying out the scheme.
• Number of beneficiaries- It is surveyed that there will be nearly 22,245 girl students who can be the beneficiary of the scheme.
• Number of vehicles– In two districts there are 22,034 petrol driven scooters and 211 battery driven scooters will be provided.
• Time of distribution- The meritorious girls will be awarded with scooters on January 2^nd and 3^rd of 2021.
• Merit Award Scheme- Along with this scheme there is Dr. Banikanta Kakaty Merit Award which will be covered by the scooty scheme. And the 5000 and 10000 girls who have received this award will also be presented with scooty by February 2021.

Assam Free Scooty Scheme Eligibility Criteria

• Resident of Assam– The woman candidate has to be the resident of the state to be eligible for the scheme.
• Meritorious girls– The vehicle will be given to the girls who have scored 60% and above in Higher Secondary Examination 2020 under AHSEC.
• Registration fee– To apply for the scheme there is a registration fee and that will be provided by the students themselves.

• Residential proof- The candidate needs to have proper residential proof for applying for scooty.
• Admit card– The candidate requires Higher Secondary Examination admit card for application.
• Score card– The candidate needs mark sheet or score card as there is certain criteria for marks.

Assam Free Scooty Scheme Application Procedure

• Step 1– The candidate has to visit the official portal.
• Step 2– The candidate will get application form on the site and they need to fill in the form with appropriate details.
• Step 3– After that they need to click on Choice of Scooty.
• Step 4– Then the candidate need to log in to the portal by entering registration and roll number.
• Step 5– After that they need to choose the scooty and fill in the form with contact details.
• Step 6– The candidate needs to download the form and take out a print out as that will the receipt for reference.

Red Colored Scooters in Scooty Scheme

At the launch event Chief Minister Sonowal announced that the meritorious girls will be presented with red colored scooty as the color represents their success story. Besides that, CM also asked the girls to to be abided by traffic rules.

Dr. Banikanta Kakaty Merit Award Scheme

In 2018 Dr. Banikanta Kakaty Merit Award was launched by the education department of Assam. And under that scheme 1000 girls who got first division in Higher Secondary received scooter. Later on the award was stopped by the government. So this year scooty scheme is launched for the meritorious girls of the state. The interesting part is the scheme will cover the meritorious girls of previous two years who were deprived of the award.

The scheme will help the girls to become innovative and also help them to improve their skill by pursing higher education in college. While launching scheme CM also asked the girls to obey the traffic rules while driving the scooty. The portal started working since 30^th August, 2020 so that students can apply for the scooty.
